Privacy Policy

Effective 27 August 2026 · Covers VFX Slate, VFX Offloader and VFX Database ("the Apps"), made by Nadan ("we", "us")

In short: the Apps do not collect, transmit, sell, or store any of your data anywhere except your own device. There is no account, no sign-in, no server, and no third-party analytics or advertising SDK of any kind.

What the Apps do

VFX Slate (iPhone/iPad) displays an on-screen slate with a scannable code generated from information you type in - setup, take, and similar fields. It does not access your camera. The code is meant to be photographed by an external camera as part of normal on-set shooting; the app itself never captures, records, or transmits an image.

VFX Offloader (Mac) reads image files from a card or folder you point it at, and copies them into a folder structure it builds on your own drive. It does not access a camera or photo library, and it does not send any file anywhere other than the destination folder you choose.

VFX Database (Mac, in development) stores production data - shoot days, scenes, camera setups, takes, and scan tracking - that you enter yourself. This policy will be updated before that app ships if its data handling differs from what's described here.

Information we do not collect

  • No account or sign-in of any kind
  • No name, email address, or other contact information
  • No location data
  • No advertising identifiers
  • No usage analytics or behavioral tracking
  • No data sold or shared with third parties, because none is collected

Information stored on your device

Slate and take entries you create (scene, setup, take, and similar production metadata) are stored locally on your device only. They are not synced to iCloud or any other service, and we have no access to them. Deleting an entry in the app, or uninstalling the app, removes this data from your device.

Crash and diagnostic reports

If you have opted in to share analytics with app developers (in iOS or macOS under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may provide us with anonymized crash logs and diagnostic data through App Store Connect. This is Apple's built-in system, governed by your own device setting - we do not embed any separate analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDK in the Apps, and we cannot identify you from this data.

Children's privacy

The Apps are professional production tools intended for film and television crews and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because the Apps do not collect information from anyone at all.

Your rights

Because the Apps do not collect or transmit personal data, there is generally nothing held about you to access, correct, or delete beyond what's already stored on your own device, which you control directly. If you believe this is inaccurate for your situation, or have a question under GDPR, CCPA, or another privacy law, contact us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

If the Apps' data practices change — for example, if a future version adds an optional account, sync, or analytics — this policy will be updated first, and the "Effective" date above will change accordingly.
